Welding leaking fryer tanks
I have a customer with a Vulcan gas fryer and at the right side right under the right burner, there is a crust of oil crap where it's leaking oil. Doesn't drip till the thing gets hot....
Is there anyway to weld these or is it not really worth the trouble?

Vulcan does have a 10 year pro rated tank warranty....But the work has to be done by authorized Vulcan repair company....And it probably is not worth the hassle unless it is on tank in a bank of fryers.

Not worth welding, Is a fire hazard though. Have seen many fryer fires due to cracked vats

A leaking frypot is to a fryer what a cracked heat exchanger is to a furnace. It needs to be replaced! PERIOD! And save yourself some hassle and change out the high limit and thermostat at the same time. No sense putting the old controls into a new pot then finding out that the stuffing boxes no longer seal properly.
