Need help with a 25 year old Magic Chef natural gas HVAC system. The pilot and burner went out over night and the fan continued to run. Was able to finally get it lit again and after the burner came on it went out again after running for about 5 or 10 minutes. I replaced the thermocouple thinking that it was the problem but nothing changed.

Unit needs a service, cleaning , and inspection from a qualified HVAC Tech and heat exchangers carefully checked for failure. NOT A DIY PROJECT.Please make the call!

    Sad but oh so true.
Sounds like unit is overheating and tripping high temp limit switches. On old Magic Chefs, Gaff & Satts, The best advice in most cases is replacement.

When was the last time you had your unit cleaned and inspected?

Now you have a problem with the unit. Fuel costs are skyrocketing.

So why not call in a professional to repair the unit? While they are there they can clean and inspect your unit to insure a safe living environment for you and your loved ones. Not to mention, having an efficient running system could save you more than the cost of the service.

What's your safety worth? I'm guessing more than the repair bill.

(we can't help DIY, due to site rules )

R.I.P. The heat exchanger is cracked and is blowing out the pilot light as soon as the burner turns off. On to finding a new furnace. Bryant 315AAV048090, Trane TDD100R960F, to many to choose from.

Sounds like the Flux Capacitor is grounded out. Time for a new furnace.

Have it replaced. If I remember correctly a lot of those units were recalled.
