Who do you think makes this unit
Top has a crack by condensing fan, homeowner wants it repaired not replaced.

Looks like an old Goodman unit. Don't think you'll find a new cover but you can probably weld it.

No need to replace. Wait a little bit and the problem will take care of itself.

I fixed one with a piece of sheet metal and some washers when I replaced the motor,although it was in need of replacement I don't have a problem repairing it. it's a janitrol/ goodman

you can bolt a piece of angle metal to span across the grill & out on to good metal picking up both the bolt at the crack and the one opposite. looks like you need through bolts out of an old motor to replace those rusted up ones though.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to come up with a solution. I think the angle iron on top is a good idea. I may weld the crack shut, this would stop vibration that may contribute to elongating that weak spot. (kinda like a windshield crack)

Make sure the HO is aware that the repair is not warrantied. If/when that thing cames apart they might be looking for someone to make the proper repairs- free of charge.

yep. No warranty. I removed the whole top, covered the unit, bringing to a Buddy's house to run a bead on

I can't tell from the picture - has the condensing fan motor been replaced with one that is heavier than the original? If so, that has contributed to the crack. The metal has trouble supporting the OEM motor, and a heavier one just exacerbates the situation.
(I got to use that cool word in the last sentence!)
