    What is the best?

Have not bought luggage since the 80's when I went on trips to Europe, Central America and other places.

I had some nice stuff (Samssonite ) that was real durable and I lost it somehow along with a list of other stuff when holy matrimony came to a end.

I figure it is all about the same and the TSA and handlers is gonna beat the crap out of it anyway. Just want to know which will hold up the longest.

I am looking at this. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=234044

I've got some 70's samsonite from a garage sale. Horrible green color. Works great.

The way I figure, if somebody is looking for a bag to break into, they're going to go for the gucci luggage and laugh at mine as they pass it over..

And, if something does happen to it, I can replace the whole ensemble for a couple bucks.

James - as an experienced traveler I can advise that it doesn't matter how much you pay they all get beat to heck

american tourister or samonsite does not really matter.

look for recessed wheels and minimium things on the outside to get caught on conveyer belts look for strong double stiching and heavy duty zippers - otherwise you may be picking up your tighty whities one by one off the belt carosel, look for a meaty handle too

look for nyolon that is stated to rip -stop that is if it tears it won't keep tearing along and split

the walmart bags will pop open very quickly

buy a 25 dollar bag you will be ok as long as it never flies it will be split open after 2 maybe three flights.

    Luggage.......

I bought two of these sets last year at a local Samsonite Outlet Store for $80 each. They're functional, sturdy and cheap. What more could you want?
