I WAS WONDERING IF A GAS FURNACE AS AUXILLARY HEAT WITH A HEAT PUMP WOULD BE A GOOD COMBINATION IN MISSISSIPPI. WOULD IT BE MORE EFFICIENT ? WHAT THERMOSTAT WOULD I USE?
    HELP, PLEASE!!

Please turn off your caps, makes it harder to read.

In Missie, all electric could be cheaper. You seldom would need backup heat.

    heat strips or gas furnace

My backup heat does come on. The temp dips below 30 deg quite regular. I want to use the furnace as an emergency heat source in case of main power failure. My generator will supply the power to run the blower and ignitor. I would like to use the gas as auxillary heat and would like to know if the gas was going to be as efficient or more efficient than the heat strips.
