We are building a home in North Carolina that uses York for the HVAC. I am attempting to purchase (through the contractor) a two Stage system. The York Stealth series AC seems to fit the bill and the York Affinity Two Stage furnace appears likewise.

If these units are provided will the system have a variable fan for both AC & Heat? Are there other components required? Will this provide a true Two Stage HVAC system? What else should I be aware of?

    Thanks

    Jim

I would want to talk directly to the HVAC contractor. I can't tell from your post if the 'contractor' you are referring to is the builder or the HVAC contractor. This is the person you need to pose your questions to, and not depend on the 'interpretation' of the home builder as a filter. If there are questions raised from the meeting wth the HVAC representative (ask to see a copy of his license) feel free to bring them to this forum and if allowable, we will be happy to address them. But, and I think most would agree, you need to have clarification from that person who is responsible for that system, i.e. the HVAC contractor on your home. All the best, John.

The Affinity comes in both 2 stage VS, and 2 stage Multi speed.

Just make sure your contractor understands you want the VS blower.

I agree with Bald's post.. and I also would suggest getting the 10 years parts and labor warranity.. Will give you a peace of mind on these high tech equipement.

And don't let the company talk you out of the two stage stat.

I run into this all the time where a compettitor told them they didn't need a 2 stage stat, like they are totally against it.

I don't get it, why wouldn't a contractor want to sell a 2 stage stat?
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.
