500-600 rpm shaft speed and they just chug along. Keep the shaft seals tight and they just run and run.
I used to work on some V-8 belt-drive compressors that were bigger than a Chevy big-block engine. Each one had eight C belts driving it. R-12 comfort cooling. Everybody was apparently scared of them but I never show fear. In about a week I had them humming along pretty well. It was a lot of fun I thought. I went back one Saturday to pressure wash and paint them. They looked real sharp after that.
The conventional view serves to protect us from the painful job of thinking.
Freezeking...even A+P uses computers and not the paragon timers! Although the racks are reminiscent of A+P's. 90% of pricerite's, even new ones, use paragon defrost timers and thermostats, some use comtrol just to monitor...keep it simple stupid. I service about 15 stores that look even worse than these pictures...sad.
