TRANE question
The other day I was on the phone with our local Trane dealer and in our conversation he made the comment that Trane does not allow the compressor and strip heat to be energized at the same time. For some reason that raised alot of questions in my mind and I have tried to find some type of documentation to support it.Is this right? Any help would be appreciated.By the way , I did call him back the next day and he still said that was true.

i woudl rate that statement as mostly true, but they do make special order units that will heat and cool at the same time for dehumidification purposes I have had several I-packs that were set up that way from trane, there was also a place in marietta ga that would modify units to dehumidify for trane

Is this a heat pump? Then it begs the question what about defrost and when the compressor cannot keep up with demand? I see plenty of tranes with strip heaters working when the compressor is running as long as they are heat pumps. If we are talking about electric-electric units then what trane said is true. Chillerout1 is correct about special orders on trane equipment.

Trane commercial question. I tried to sign up for a factory Trane summit class and was denied by the local Trane commercial distirct manager due to the fact I am not a Trane dealer. Any suggestions on how to learn Tracer summit or get around the district manager and get factory teaining. Is the Tracker and the Summit hardware similar ? I can get in the Tracker program but not the summit class. Whart do I do?

03-26-2012, 03:12 PM #8The premise of ventilation is that the OA is clean or of sufficient quality to be used for dilution. Traditional ventilation is somewhat being threatened by the fact that the EPA is changing the requirements for outdoor air quality which is creating non-attainment zones in what is now becoming a significant portion of the country. That means that buildings in those areas will need to clean up the OA before they bring it into the building.

Do you think maybe he was referring to start up of the unit on a call for heat? I cant imagine shutting down the primary to bring on the secondary heat. Maybe I missed something here?
