    Question York Equipement ?

    I am building a new home in mass and have been looking at york equipe,2 A/C units with airhandlers(3ton). I want 14seer-2 stage compressors in either 410a or 22. The hvac contractor had me talk directly to the distributor telling him exactly what I wanted. Well one person said we have that its not a problem, another one calls me back and says its not available with a 2 stage. Whats up with the distributor not knowing its own product? This is for the Affinity line. Does anyone know york that could answer this? Thanks.

    Correct me if I am wrong here guys. 2 stages system is up about 19 SEER and not in the 14 SEER.

    I do not believe that the Affinity line has 2 stage just yet. I know that the Stealth line has 2 stage up to 16 seer I believe. Check out yorkupg.com and do some research.

    The Affinity has a 2 stage model using the unloading scroll.

    Affinity 2 stage is 15 seer or better, not available in 14 seer in the Affinity line.

    The Stealth series is still available.

    I think most on this board will tell you it's more in the installation quality and care than the equipment itself. Yes warranties do vary, and designs to some extent do, but if an installer takes the time to size and do a quality install, lesser cost equipment can out perform and oulast the higher priced systems under a bad installation. I don't think you can go wrong with York, if all things being equal from an installtion point of view, you then need to drill down to the features and what meets your budget.

    I'd go the Stealth route personally. I like the idea of 50/100% operation rather than the 67/100% of the unloading scroll.

    Not unusual for contractors & suppliers to not know their stuff
