I'm investigating a geo-thermal install for our existing house.
We're on Long Island. Currently we have a gas boiler that needs to be updated. It's at least 20 years old and has experienced a number of floods before we got the drainage problem fixed.
It's around 1200 sq feet. Walls are heavily insulated. The floors, over a slab, aren't. I'm also looking into radiant to replace baseboard heat.
The one contractor I spoke with thus far says the changeover, while efficient, isn't worth the expense.
Shall I investigate further or is it pretty much true that the electrical usage that I might see would outweigh any efficiency?
