My apologies for the part about the profile. I just looked at it, but the edit time had already expired on my previous post so I couldn't remove my "by the way" remark. I for one appreciate the fact that you thought enough of the rest of us to give a little info about yourself.

Perhaps a/c wizard was a little alarmed by the response style here since he is new and not used to the way things fly around here.

I'm sure his intentions were good.

    York oil foaming problem

Klove I would like to apologize for my post yesterday, my remarks were too heavy handed, I 'm new to this forum and I misread your intentions. I now realize you were just trying to help and I commend you and others like you on this forum for taking the time to help a fellow tradesman.

    oil foaming

    Hello yall
Wanted to update. Went back to jobsite, tried other chiller oil foams in it too, not quite as bad. I tried something manually that worked. We disconnected the vent solenoid and manually energized same, on for about 15 seconds then off for about 45 seconds. This brings the sump pressure down to suction pressure slowly and minimizes oil foam. Installed an interval timer to cycle valve through 4 cycles, a one shot timer to energize valve continuously and de energize the cycle timer until the next start. This worked fine, we are installing same on the other chiller. Thanks And Best Wishes To all!

I have a yt R 123 machine that is showing heavy foam in both glasses DURING the run cycle. No oil pressure fluctuations noted, but I seem to remember in the past that this machine had less volatile oil foaming, ie nice clear oil at least in the lower glass. The sump pressure is slightly higher than evap pressure, evap at 19.9 inch vac and sump at 18.5 inch vac. the vent sol is energized and both sides of the valve piping are hot. I am going to watch it at start up and verify sump pressure after solenoid is opened.
