    Frown Furnace Blower Problem

I should lead this thread with the acknowledgment that I am a homeowner, but my HVAC technician is at a loss. He was out here for 7.5 hours yesterday to resolve this issue with no luck. He had a Honeywell rep on the phone, a fellow technician and the company owner. I am not trying to DIY the fix (it's beyond me), but I am trying to figure out something I can tell him that will help him fix it. It this circumstance precludes me from getting answers here, it is unfortunate, but I do understand your stance. With my disclaimer stated, here is the situation:

I have just added a York Affinity 100k BTU 2 stage variable speed Furnace (PV9C20N100UP12A) with an existing Goodman 5 ton 16 SEER 2 stage Heat Pump (DSXC160601 &CAPF4860D6). The coil is placed above the furnace and has a humidifier attached to the side of the coil box. There is an Aprilaire 5000 air cleaner attached to the side of the furnace. A VisionPro IAQ and outdoor temp sensor are installed. A duct booster fan is installed in a secondary return. All equipment except the air cleaner and booster is controlled through the EIM. The intention of the system is to operate as a dual fuel.

Here is the problem: The blower works anytime there is a call from the thermostat (A/C, heat pump, or fan "On"), but will not come on when there is a call from the furnace (gas heat stage 3 and 4). It seems the call for the fan is going out because the air cleaner and a return booster both kick on at the appropriate time and they are connected to an outlet that is fed by the EAC power terminal on the furnace control board. An interesting thing I found tonight is that if I put the Humidistat jumper on the blower control board to "No", the fan comes on continuously. If it is set to "Yes", the fan operates as previously described. My IAQ settings are as follows:

    110 - 0
    120 - 20
    130 - 11
    140 - 10
    150 - 19

What happens if you switch the thermostat from heat to emergency heat? does it go through the sequence of operation and work properly?

No. Anytime there is a call for stage 3 or 4 heat even if the fan is already running in stage 1 or 2 heat, the fan will turn off. I had a technician walk me through some diagnostics tonight. He had me disconnect everything (all thermostat wires and wires for the air cleaner). The Humidistat jumper was set to off with no wires connected (expect power to the furnace) and the blower came on. He then had me jumper R and W with the Humidistat jumper to yes. The furnace went through the proper sequence even clicking to turn the blower on, but the blower did not turn.

Have him come and join the site tonight and have him copy your post into the "tech to tech" forum.

    What Happens Next

OK, call for 3/4 stage heat and blower shuts off, BUT what happens next....??
Does furnace goes thru it lighting sequence??
    Do burners eventually come on???
After some warm-up period, does blower come back on??

I know on my furnace, when there is a call for heat, the burners come on for a little bit (to warm heat exchanger I assume) and then blower comes on. I could imagine the furnace stopping the blower during this warm up period.

Here's something I've always wondered, but been too lazy to get out my voltmeter... When the tstat makes a call for heat or cool, does it also engage G and make a "matching" call for fan or is G strictly calling for fan when fan ON selected???

The burner goes completely through its proper sequence and eventually shuts off because the high limit switch shuts it down.

As far as calling Tyler and asking him to join the conversation...he isn't a personal friend. He is the HVAC technician that is trying to get this running for me. He is separately calling York to see if there is a known issue. As of it, they have not been able to determine anything with York. In the meantime, we are experiencing temperatures in the 30's and I need to figure out how to get the heat in my house going. Fortunately, the heat pump is working in heat mode with the blower accompanying it.

Based on the diagnosis today, I am beginning to think the blower control board is bad.

there are 2 things that cause your problem either one should be easy to find by a competent service tech.I will say that the blower uses the cool relay n the board for the functions that are working and uses heat relay on the board for the functions that are not working

And, maybe that is the problem. I'm not suggesting general incompetence, but he did say he is not familiar with York systems.
