two stage furnace with a one stage or two stage a/c

Hi All,

Hope I am in the right forum. I am new here.

Looking to get a new furnace and a/c in NJ, either a Carrier or Trane. Can you have a two stage furnace with a one stage a/c? Or do both items need to be two stage? I have a 1200sq/ft condo on the second floor. Thanks in advance for any help, this is all new to me.

You can have a 2 stage furnace and single stage A/C, no problem.

Yes, many times people will opt for a two stage heat and single stage cooling. Here, where our summer time cooling is used way more than our winter time heating, we will go the other way with two stage cooling and single stage heater.
