    Replacing my HVAC system

I am looking at replacing my AC unit and Furnace. I have quotes for the following Bryant systems.

    Option 1
-187 BNA Evolution 2 speed 17 SEER AC
    -355 CAV 95% AFUE 2 stage Furnace
    -CNPVP4821 Evaporator coil
    -Programmable thermostat

    pricing on the above is$

    Option 2
-126 BNA Performance 1 speed 16 SEER AC
    -355 CAV 95% AFUE 2 stage Furnace
    -CNPVP4821 Evaporator coil
    -Programmable thermostat

pricing on the above is $

There is only one difference between the two, AC unit. Is there really a need for me to go for the 2 speed evolution unit vs. the 1 speed performance unit? I am not sure how much difference in efficiency level it can make.

Some additional details: Our home is around 3000 sq ft, we live in Virginia.
