Need input and FAST on possible job with direct energy
So i just started on as a gas technician helping at sheet metal mechanic at a local company here. Pay is not that good to start but looks like ill have the chance for an apprenticeship with them in time. However tonight a guy I went to school with who got in with direct energy. He has told me they are looking for a maintenence mechanic in my area which i belive is just basically doing furnace start ups to start. My main question is if anyone knows more about what i would be doing or if down the road ill have a chance to move up in the company or just get dumped off when things r slow or im not needed. Because the money looks good and i get a van supplied, but the thing is its just a gas tech job and i have a chance to start apprenticing likely soon with the smaller company.
Just super confused at what to do especially since they want an answer asap.
Thanks alot everyone

getting the van and being on your own is priceless experience...along with the money, you can always do sheetmetal on the weekends if the op comes around.the field is very unpredictable and the sheet metal job would be how installs go with a small company....the gas company has tons of service and repairs and you get a truck and bennys pension OT and isn't depending on a sales men and installations.service is always a constant with the fall go with the utility...
good luck
