YCAS Oil Line

What is the oil line made of? I have a oil isolation valve leaking. Threw a magnet on it, so I thought it was aluminum. Cut the valve out and seems like stainless steel. Is it stainless?

Yes it is stainless steel.
Two types of stainless steel exists and they are Martensitic ans Austenitic.
Austenitic is non-magnetic whilst Martensitic is.
The higher priced Austenitic is virtually non heat treatable and is far superior to not cracking due to vibration as long as its operating temperature is kept below 500-800°f.
Austenitic makes a wousy' knife blade but sure is pretty..

Any purpose why?

Can't fit replacement valve in exact spot. Going to sweat in 4" of copper bent over to new ball valve and 6" of new copper to existing stainless. Any problem with that?

Works every time, but I'm wondering why you'd sweat copper to both sides? Why not use a sweat ball valve and 45% one end to the existing line, then put the stub on the other end and cut out one coupling - or is my thinking screwed up about what you meant? You can also use Swagelok fittings and new stainless line (at least .045" wall) if that works better.

I've put them in with copper stubs and also with the Swagelok, both work and haven't have them fail.
