Is a heat pump worth it?
I live in Houston Tx and our exterior AC unit is old, inefficent, and nearing the end of its life. Our air handler is newer and in good condition. I am trying to decide if an in ground heat pump would be a good option to replace it with. Our house is single story brick, 1800sqft and we have a large lot with the ability to drill the system in either the front or back yard.
you choose a GEO company with experience it would be an excelent choice.

Geo has a higher up front cost, and if it never gets so cold that you cannot take heat out of the air, I would think that option would have the lowest total cost.

If you can front the costs of a geothermal I have never had a customer say they wish they would have saved the money upfront and bought a conventional heat pump instead. Check the major manufacturers websites for qualified IGSHPA installers.
You will be amazed how much you can save all while producing hot water and NO outdoor unit noise all day long.
