Need gate parts on York VFD

I have a blown gate on a 500 hp York VFD (phase B inverter section) The assembly is 371-1486-101. There are four gates on the board and each has it's own driver. Gate number two cracked and shorted.

Looking for a replacement gate - new or used. Tried to buy a new section form York but they claim it is not a replacement part.? Suggested new drive.

If you're talking about the IGBT, that's not a replacement part that would be available from jci. But why would you need a new drive? Get the output pole assembly and change it.

    VSD Parts

I find that hard to believe but then again anything is possible with JCI these days they just want to sell equipment for big bucks.

PS: Here is a parts book for a VSD.

    Thanks for the pdf.

I buy JCI controls because they have great docs online. York is still in the dark when it comes to public literature so I buy Carrier equipment. They have way more info published on their site.

The IGBT (I call it a gate) is a Siemens BSM150GB120DN2. The B-phase gate #2 of 4 looks like it internally shorted against the heat sink. Found used listed in Ebay for about $20 each. Could not find a local source for new part.

I tested resistors and caps - all good. I do not have a troubleshooting guide for the driver board but it should post a code on power up if it is bad.

Try P#371-04164-001 power module kit (aka - IGBT). Also, if you have not already, test your scr's,capacitors, and trigger board. By the way its expensive as h#@!

I know you are working on a YK, You said that in your op. The part you are describing Sounds like Part #27 on page 25 of the renewal parts list that York 56 posted. There is a parts counter in houston at the JCI branch. Take them that part # and they will gladly order it for you. They dont sell the transitors and the gate board seperate, it is all one part.

I think it is better to contact the spare parts department with the type and serial number of the vsd available. To many different drives and revisions are out there. The spare parts manual uploaded by York56 just covers the "Vyper" drive. A burned IGBT is considered as a catastrophic failure and just changeing the IGBT might not resolve the source of the problem. A new IGBT could be killed quickly again (they are not cheap!). I think working on the York VSD requires a factory training or at least reasonable experience with the equipment. I would never take used spare parts on such equipment if i personally havent removed it from some other working drive.

I agree fully with Entropie on this post that is why a full M/N & S/N is so important to get the right information for the right piece of equipment that your working on you can get seriously hurt working on this piece of equipment.
