I was talking with a HVAC repair technician who worked for a larger commercial HVAC/refrigeration company in the area and we were talking about benefits. Where he works, he gets only one day of vacation for each year worked with the comapny They do not get paid for holidays either. This is a union shop too. I am wondering is this the type of benefits one would normally get when working for a company?

    Lack of airflow destroys compressors.

The local 597 in Chicago area does not allow for holidays or vacation. Many shops do offer holdays and vacation as compensation package. One day for every year? Is he with M&M? Benefits can be negotiated along with pay. Maybe he gets enough $/hr to make up for the poor paid days off package.
