Confused A "reminder" about posting in the AOP forums

The AOP is a place for equipment owners to ask non-DIY questions. Any advice offered in response to these questions should be coming from Professional Members with the * next to that designation.

Not Pro members without the *.

    Not Regular members.

Not other New Guests or other equipment owners.

We are sending out a lot of PMs and making many posts in the forums, but some of the folks here seem to be missing the posting rules.

You will find them in the links below.

Let's keep this at the friendly, cooperative level, ok?

    Thanks. We appreciate your assistance.

But, anyone can ask a question of anything in any particular post.

    I know where you live....

    LOL

    Guys, really.

If you've not gotten your * and want to post here, please apply. The application can be found in any AOP committee members signature line.

Tiger, it may be nonsense to you now but when the "new" wears off it will be logical. This site has issues controlling DIY. Therefor we have made a new section and are allowing them to ask questions.

There are certain rules to follow that will allow us to speak with DIY and eliminate any liability. The AOP Committee is in charge of this area. The application is easy to fill out and send but you must be a Pro Member here to get the *.

Anyone can speak with a DIY but giving advice without the * is now forbidden or we will have to do away with letting DIY on our site all together.

Done...sorry, I was on the road...
(The wise men of modern thought) adore a god made of putty or of wax - plastic, effeminate, molluscous, with no masculine faculty about him, and no quality that entitles him to the respect of just and honest men, for a being who cannot be angry at wrongdoing is destitute of one of the essential virtues, and a moral Ruler who is not angry with the wicked, and who refuses to punish crime, is not divine. ---Spurgeon

I have a dream... that one day... people will be judged by the content of their post... and not by the * next to their name. I have a dream.

What is required to acces the pro section? Is it only for HVAC contractors? I repair TV's and Appliances by trade, HVAC is a hobby/interest of mine. I've learned a lot in the 10 years I've been on this site.

From what I've been seeing, it seems the mods & AOP committee members are having a hard time keeping up with all of the violators of the rules. Maybe the software should be changed to allow any pro with a * after their name to edit or remove post from offenders. If a pro with a * after their name abuses this, they would be found out pretty soon and penalized accordingly.
I've been seeing violations of the rules in threads where moderators have been posting, but ignoring postings in violations of the rules.
