new compressor dead.
Hey guys.
Last week we changed a compressor that was down to earth. Whilst soldering the new compressor in I asked the senior tech if he wanted to purge with dry nitro to stop scaling. He didn't want to. So we got the compressor in and evaced and charged.
then when we ran the system the head pressure wouldnt get over 1000kpa, the compressor made a few noises. Then it stopped pumping, both sides equalized.
so my question, do you think that the compressor being inefficient had anything to do with not purging the system?

1-what did you do after?
2-what was suction psi?
3-what kind of compressor are you discussing?
4-you leave out a whole lot of info!
It`s better to be silent and thought the fool; than speak and remove all doubt.

What kind of refrigerant, what was your suction pressure, what was your voltage and amp draw, there is much more information needed to help out.

R22 compressor, suction started at 45psi then after 3 mins of run time it went up to 108 (which was the discharge pressure also) 415v and running amps were 25. Which were the correct running amps.
Compressor was running fine, for 5 mins or so while I was topping up thw charge. Then lost all efficiency

Without a compressor make and model I can't say for sure, but it certainly sounds like what happens with a 7-15 ton Copeland scroll with ASTP.
