I Have honneywell electronic air filters fc37a 1064 1 8703
Have washed them both using cascade dishwashing detergent in a bosch dishwasher.
after i take them out there is still a layer of dust/dirt on the 8 long plates near the thin wires. i wipe my finger over them and it is dark and/or chalky white.
i dont know if this same "dirt" is on all of the smaller plates as well as i can not get in there to wipe them.
QUESTION: what household cleaner is OK to spray all over these plates to "eat" away at the dirt that seems caked on.
i would surmise that after spraying them i would then wash them in the dishwasher again. (?)
I believe that the filters are not working properly due to this "dirt" as there seems to be more dust than there should be in the house with the use of this system.
thanks for any input

sounds like the cascade is etching the plates. try using 409 and rinsing with garden hose. never liked the dishwasher for cleaning cells.

Use "Grease Lightning" to clean the filters, works great.
Rinse well with warm water.
I used this on the filter of one of those ionic
air purifiers. I smoke and the blades were coated
with not only dirt but nicotine. The Grease Lightning
worked real well.
You can purchase it in most stores.
