Do you know where I can see this Trane bulletin? I'm having the same issue with a 25 ton. I would have one happy customer if I could get it warrantied!

Wouldn't get your hopes up about warranty, and those assemblies aren't cheap. The motor is bad. The issue began about 5 years ago. Most have been replaced but I recently ran across one that someone apparently has been unplugging every summer and plugging back in during the winter for the last 5 years.

Just replaced one today ,there also is a addditional relay and wiring that the trane dealer will charge to prevent motor from shorting again.

They were covering the repairs for awhile, but I believe that time has long passed.

If you don't fix it your gonna run the risk of the transformer shorting out and burning the control wiring. Unplug it until you get it repaired.

We just had one that took out the transformer and three circuit boards. The unit is 460v and the transforner was for the draft motor. One more reason not to let it go.

Hmmm, i have replaced at least a dozen of these with shorted windings and have never recieved any relays with the new motors. How are these wired? I assume into the 120 leg that closes the relay?

How exactly does the shorted windings cause this? ( if we can in this thread).

    Switched neutral becomes grounded.
