    Anyone no what this is?

Was up on a roof to look at someone else's install and saw these on the condensing units. I looked on Mitsubishi web site but could not find that accessory. Definitely factory. I have a few ideas what it might be used for.

It's a wind baffle for low ambient cooling on the P-Series Mitsubishi.

Why is this in the Wall of Shame section?

Forget it, I see the lumber they mounted the unit to.

We just started up some big Voyager Waterscource RTU's, the school had numerouse mini's mounted like that, told contractor thats a big negative on them staying upright. They blew over they put them on longer lumber, we had Hurricane Irene, I think they are gone now
It's hard to stop a Trane. but I have made one helluva living keeping them going.

    Are those cedar 4x4's?

It really doesn't look that bad. Not much else they could do beside have a roofer come out and put in some rails.

I've seen blue styrofoam sm under the wood sleepers. That blinding white roof material ain't cheap. How close to the roof membrane is the unistrut holding up the disconnect switch?

Absolutely right, you Southerners are funny, did you think Gib's son was referring to the sleepers? All Mitsubishi's have the low ambient wind baffles in my parts.

I guess they had to use redwood sleepers because some idiot threw the shipping pallat away.

Thanks....wind baffle was my first guess as it is in a very windy location. I did struggle posting here but I rationalized that there were enough problems with the install that it fit. You all picked up on some of them. Others, pipe insulation scabbed together and not glued or tied. Pipes kinked, not secured, rubbing at penetration through on concrete floor bellow.

What else are you supposed to do when the owner doesn't want to pay for a roofer?
