My original defrost board shorted out due to corrosion and smoked the reversing solenoid. bought new parts and the new defrost board was a little different from the original. It had a 10" long wire on it besides the one that goes to the coil for temp sense. I asked the sales guy what it was for but of course he didn't know but it was for sure the right replacement board. The sheet that came with it did not make sense to me. Can anyone tell me what to connect it to if anything?

The new board has a remote ambient sensor. Its a universal part. Dont connect it to anything, it dangles in the breeze. The old one had the sensor directly on the board.

Sometimes I find myself wanting to instruct HO's but remember what the site is about and some HVAC guys phone not ringing.
