    ECM Modular Bad?

Trane TWE065E13fbo, fan motor run erratically and sometimes not at all. Checked motor & modulator with ZU-7. Do I change modular and have programmed at Trane or is it something else.

    Thanks

Check External Static Pressure ESP on the air handler. Make sure coils, blower wheel and filter are clean.

The blower wheel had a lot of mold & dirt build up on it.

When a call for motor came on the motor turned for 30 sec. then shut off. I think due to door being off and air handler tring to read esp.

Do you think after clean blower wheel and putting door back on we might be good to go? The zebra ZU-7 showed I had a call for fan at board and motor. Also motor windings tested out okay. thanks

Mold means that the dirt has been wet. Water blowoff is likely.
Get the static pressures as is.
    Cleaning is the next step.
Then get the static pressures after cleaning.

    Bad EMC Modulator

I live in the Dallas area and took modulator to Aces off Miller Rd. They tested modulator and it failed. Picked up another one and they programed it as well.

Also cleaned the fan cage as well.

Glad to be done with that one.

Trane has a tool for field testing the ECM motor.

American Standard and Trane Modules are often in warranty , find its the module that loses its programming due to a power hiccup more times than not...we'll get a new module (which tested out with Zebra) and get the old one reprogrammed for use as a backup.

    Trane will not test modular

Trane will not test modular here in Dallas. Aces will test modular.

I have brought two modular's from Aces's and they test both old modular for me and I brought two from them this summer with success.

Buy the 'KIT' from Trane or American Standared - it will pay for itself with the warranty modules you will re-program instead of discarding.
