I have a leak at the discharge end plate of the compressor. Can I remove this to replace the gasket behind the plate or is this not possible without doing damage. It looks like it is just a mater of removing the king valve and unbolting the plate, is this correct or does this hold it all together?

You can do this , get a new gasket., and make sure you clean and prep the new connection., dont forget to isolate the gas lol

I here a lot of people call an access valve a king valve. The king valve is any type of valve in the liquid line that isolates the high and low side of the system. It could be a ball valve, globe valve, angle valve any type of valve. But it is the king valve. The valve you are talking about is a Henry angle valve, or dicharge isolation valve.
Sorry to be a jerk just a little pet peev of mine.
