But were they offering anything unique ... that was also something for which there was any sizable market ... that stood out for whatever reason from other products made by the competition?
In any event, in a tough economy, history pretty much shows that the companies who fared the storm best were those who reverted to and concentrated on their core competencies. That is, doing what they knew best.
