Ok...lets go back a bit and get me on the right track.
The Goodman GSX-13 is an air conditioner. I'm quoting their website, not just making up stuff.
Sitting out back of my house is a unit very similar looking to the GSX-13. THAT is what was replaced, but the technician's paperwork says 'condenser'.
I'm confused, too (obvious).

Yeah, man! But...as my indoor coil (borrowing terminology from the Goodman website) is R-22 compatible, I needed the AC unit to be the same. I think that issue is why I ended up with a Goodman unit rather than a Trane.
Compressor = Copeland Scroll. Others say its a good one, one of the best actually. I figure that amounts to something!

Tough to be a rookie here! Seems I needed some prior knowledge before getting started.

Sorry to confuse, really. In the beginning, I was simply concerned about longevity of the newly installed unit and whether that concern was based on fact or crap.
Given all your help and input, I think I'm OK, although still a bit slow in the way's of HVAC.
Thanks for not flaming me too badly.

Don't worry. The cheap Trane units don't have a 10 year warranty on the compressors either.
