has anyone ever been asked to install a humidifier in the attic area? if so is their any special type that can be installed without any freeze problems?

personally,i don't like the idea, but,i have seen it done many times...i would always suggest to the HO to use heat tape on the humidifer feeder line, but if the drain line should become clogged?,that can be a mess

depending on your location you may be required to make the attic location of the humidifier a conditioned space to prevent freezing. In Michigan where I lived many years before moving to Canada in order to install a furnace or humidifer in an attic space, the contrator or home owner was requred to build an insulated space enclosing either the furnace or humidifer to prevent freezing.
