Depends on alot of variables. Was the old one a burnout? Tonnage? Every one I treat on a case by case basis.
    Nemo me impune lacessit.

How much blood do I have to bathe in to get clean?

Don't look down on anyone unless you're helping them up.

Where's it located? How many floors do you have to carry up the replacement unit and carry down the old one. I can give you scenerios where you need cranes or JLG to do this. Does the service tech get to use a helper?

Actually, it reminds me of a best I saw someone once make. The bet if they could beat someone riding in an elevator by running up the stairs. They laid down a set of ground rules and stipulations. At go, the runner sprints up the first 2 flights, beats the elevator to the 2nd floor and hits the "^" button forcing the elevator to stop and open the doors. Game over. Now he just casually climbs the next floor, hits the "^" button again and repeats for all 8 floors. Won himself $20.

    All depends.

    There is no answer.
"Better tell the sandman to stay away, because we're gonna be workin on this one all night."

"Dude, you need more than 2 wires to a condenser to run a 2 stage heatpump."

    "Just get it done son."

Hauling it all back. Young guy or old guy like me that moves slower?

I agree also, I have a building downtown that is an old converted warehouse...you need a security badge, the only parking is 1/2 block away (you can borrow a trash cart to put EVERYTHING in, but there is always something still in the truck ) wait for the elevator.....
    I wish I had a $1.00 for every response I deleted.....

What kind of torches? How far did he have to walk to wet his rags? Oxy or btank? What kind of compressor? If he could unbraze the old compressor, how many ounces of braze were on each joint..................

And so on, and so on, and so on. I could go all day with this.

There is no answer. It takes what it takes.

So if he said "hard to say", he won. If he said it takes him X hours, he wins, because it's what it takes him.

    So, you lose.

Those things have no service access valves, they're under the small appliance rules.

Just noticed OP said "his friend" had this unit in his basement, and this disagreement was with his "friend".

Where did this unit come from, and how did it become an uninstalled piece of equitment?
    Who is reinstalling this unit?

Maybe he uses a flat rate, and the charge is, what it is.

More important than your quarrel....why did magicpak decide to stop making the wc models in a HP? theyve really screwed thousands of condo owners out here..."enjoy your new system! oh, and by the way, expect a 300 dollar heating bill...thanks!"
