The varialble speed blower will remove more humidity from the air. as far as brands go, they are both quality products. I would choose the contractor that you are most comfortable with.
I am trying to decide between two products,
1)Amana 3 ton asz14036 outside and AEPF 4260 inside
2)Bryant 3 ton Legacy 15 sheer 215bna036000 outside and fx4dnf037t00
The price is about the same, my concern is the product. I know the amana has that warranty but I am concerned about the variable speed and what it might do to the humidity in the house. My mother has a hard time feeling like she gets enough air as it is. Will the variable speed make the air even drier? We do live in Florida but I don't know if it could make her feel like the air is too dry. Which way is best for her? Thanks so much!!! Also is the Bryant that is not a variable speed intake handler be better for her. Will this be a reliable unit?

Thanks do you think it could make it harder to breath because it removes the humidity?
I don't think it will ever get a Florida house too dry!
Typically, the variable speed function is controlled by a humidistat. If you find the air is too dry (not likely - as BaldLoonie said, we're talking about Florida), you could simply set the humidistat higher.
Thanks for the info I am still not knowing which is better, We also could go with a trane xr13. Some people say the amana is not good and some are saying the bryant is not. We just want a reliable unit that is sturdy and will blow lots of air.
my customers with breathing problems do much better with low humidity.
Most people that say a certain unit is junk, is based on their service experience.
If someone has to repair more amana units than others, they would tend to say amana is junk.
If someone has to repair bryant units more often, they would tend to say bryant is junk.
Is it actually caused by a higher number of issues nationwide, or is it caused by that unit is more commonly found in the area?
Most likely, it's caused by them having a higher number of those units in the area.
IE:
My service manager hates Amana. Tells me all the time: "stupid amana. what a piece of junk."
The real reason why he says that? Because we have 4 installation crews, installing equitment 5-6 days a week. That could turn out to be 700-1000 units a year, and all of the owners of those units call US if there is an issue.
We've been in business, selling amana for over 20+ years.
And he handles all the warranty paperwork.
If we were a bryant dealer, he'd be complaining about the same thing.
He put a new Amana air handler and heat pump in his house last year.
"Better tell the sandman to stay away, because we're gonna be workin on this one all night."
"Dude, you need more than 2 wires to a condenser to run a 2 stage heatpump."
"Just get it done son."

Thanks so which would you go with legacy, amana, xr13, considering also the breathing issues and concern over the variable speed. I just always thought that the drier the air the harder it is to feel like your getting enough.
I would say that with a variable speed air handler, using he dehumification features, and a dehumidistat, it would increase the breathability of air.
So, if there becomes an issue with the air being dry, you can always turn the dehumidistat up, moistening the air.
Giving you the ability to adjust this feature in the future, or turn it off, is going to be better than not having it at all.
As far as specifics on a unit, I would claim that the amana is unit that has a better warranty than the others, and I like Amana.
But, I am a Amana installer, so I would take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Dont get too hung up on brand. Find the product that best meets your needs paired up with a contracor who you are comfortable with, and roll with it. As for reliability, there are minor differences between brands, but it is all within a very small window of difference. If you PM your email address I can send you a copy of a consumer reports article that will give you good information on central air conditioner reliability.
It's not rocket-science...
It's electromechanical thermodynamic engineering
