evap ice up

lowside 30 high 300 cleaned cond add r-22. low 32 high 380. pulling 9.5 amp Do i have air in the system or is the txv bad.the unit is very old.name plate can not read plate.modle lennox lb-34803bx any help.

sounds like low airflow across the coil. outside unit sounds like it needs a good cleaning too ...

Here's something to think about...

When was the last time you had that unit cleaned and serviced?

Now you have a problem with the unit. Fuel costs are skyrocketing.

So why not call in a professional to repair the a/c and look over your heating equipment? While they are there they can clean and inspect your unit to insure a safe living environment for you and your loved ones. Not to mention, having an efficient running system could save you more than the cost of the service.

What's your safety worth? I'm guessing more than the repair bill.

Could be a restriction or a bad txv ... either way call a pro.
a lot of the time I have cust. to work on a system and end up
spending more trying to fix it than what I charged them to fix it.

with the high and low pressures the way you describe them it sounds like a problem with the txv.. in which you should contact a certified repair man to fix... If it was a airflow problem at the evap coil, both presurse would be lower than normal...

Not if it's overcharged to compensate.

Superheat is the only way to know if a TXV is functioning and there are a few other things that must be confirmed before you can even get to that point.

Call a pro.
