for you serious types... no I didn't hear about one weighing 600 lbs.
I've heard Trane is coming out with a 3 stage furnace, Carrier a constant burn system...
Air conditioners with 25 SEER, A/C's with 30 SEER.
Where will it end? Imagine your a/c bigger than your house. the cost as much as your house.
an a-coil that weighs in at 600 lbs. LMAO...
Seriously I have heard this. Tell me it isn't so...

I've known about the 3 stage furnace for a couple months.
Why go three stage when the Rheem/Ruud modulating does so much more? You know damned well that installers are going to be connecting it to a single stage stat or the HO will install their own single stage.
Lets hope it never ends. This is the stuff that keeps us in jobs.

The A-S/Trane 3 stage comes with a special version of the Vision Pro to handle 3 stages and communicate with the rest of the system. Their first attempt at a "real" control!
And it'll only take 3 wires to do it! I'm kinda excited about that part.
I'm also excited about being forced to install the right stat with the unit. "Sometimes" (read all the time) we install single stage stats on 2 stage furnaces. I've preached and begged but no one listens to the kid ya know.
I've heard they pushed back the 3 stage unit until this spring so they can actually test it before they release it... nice change!
installers are going to need heavy equipment to set the equipment and have to do major mods to install it.
Seven more stages and they'll catch up with RUUD.
The Mod 90+ has been around since '98. One of Ruud's best kept secrets...
Best regards
York's still working on their mod.
Can't wait to trouble shoot an intermittent control on an n-stage system!!
Commercial control system trouble shooters will be waiting to charge 1800.00/day.
Nice.

Don't be afraid...Just walk into the light.
I can't vouch for the other brands, but the Ruud mod furnace is fairly easy to troubleshoot. Well, at least I think it is. Never really had to troubleshoot one. They are pretty realiable, you know.
There are actually provisions on the board for troubleshooting the modulation function. The only difference as far a t'stat wiring is an extra wire which carries a signal for gas valve position.
Infact, the baord on the mod 90+ has an 8 segment digital display for trouble codes.
good luck ...
but its ruud to put in a rheem? or is it ya put in a ruud and ya get rheemed?
Never, I repeat, never buy anything with a blue oval on it:-).
That all brands are good if they are installed and maintained correctly.

Yea! Like all of the other manufacturers are working their versions of it; "wait to see if Rheem/Ruud affects the market with theirs, then reverse engineer it."Originally posted by beenthere

Really, it's just a modulating gas valve and a bunch of controls.

This ia an exciting time for our industry..with so many changes and advances. I welcome it because it will weed out the people who do not belong in this trade and then maybe we can make the kind of money we deserve.
Dave in NJ
did a 410a 3 ton high eff two stage condenser and that thing was so big i thought it was the wrong unit it took 4 of us to get it off the truck and set it before long your going to have to go out and hire 3 or 4 guys for a couple of hours to help you set the equipment.
One rep said late this winter they would release it.Originally posted by RoBoTeq
