mist humidifiers are bad for any system using metal ductwork
I have a mist humidifier installed just above the blower assy. When taking it off to inspect the ductwork behing it, it was pretty cruddy. Clumps of gray dust stuck to the ductwork, and some light corrosion.
Should I just turn off the water supply to it, and not use it anymore?

I wouldn't put them on any system period!
only place i use them is one town near me that has counterflow systems blowing down into concrete duct system. no room for anything else.
They make good outside misters for cooling you off in the summer.

I have never seen a mist humidifier work properly yet. I agree they make a good way of cooling of in the summer thats about it.
Ditto, They're trash.
Guess I'll either shut off the water valve to it or disconnect it completely.
This is a great forum, and has been educational for me. Thanks.
