    4 month old Trane xr90 has ventor motor with bad bearing,
    Is this a common problem?
    A sign of things to come?

    machines built by humans, once in a while you get a bad part.

    Ditto what t527ed said. Just for funnies, you may want to check flue gas temp. Too high temp can shorten motor life. Make sure delta T is within the range for this furnace.
