One can only hope the 13 SEER heat pumps will be less critical than the 12 SEER units.

I have always wondered how a company that sells what is considered by many to be the finest equipment available can allow this 12 SEER heat pump situation to exist.

In my area there were a lot of aftermarket coils that were ARI listed as a match used with Rheem/Ruud equipment to raise the SEER rating to what was required for rebates.

Everyone of these has issues on heat pumps. Aftermarket coils may be ARI rated but in reality they usually have too large of a capacity for the refrigerant miserly Rheem/Ruud designs.

No heat pump should be installed without a manufacturers matched indoor coil just for this reason.
