hy not just get a temparary above ground tank and use it for now. this will take the presure of you all the way arround. you will also gain some time to find a qualified contractor that wil give you the best job he can. you will also have time to insulate even if you do it your self it is better then not at all. above ground temp tank shouldnt cost that much and the oil co should have no problem giving you oil

What are Ontario Hydro kW-hr rates now - 5.8 cents or so, even after recent increases as a hidden tax?. After the insulation, consider that a heat pump may be the way to go -- no idea what Canadian NG prices are going to do (up?), but way up at US hubs. . .There are a bunch of threads showing advantageous cost comparisons even for -20C weather, esp. for > $12 MBtu NG. .
