    I got a Rheem RGRA single stage furnace installed before last winter and noticed that the temp swings were a little bad. I have since heard that a 2 stage gas valve can help with this. Is it possible to add the valve after the fact?

    no, there is more to a 2 stage unit than just the gas valve.
