Thread: bathroom vent fans

    bathroom vent fan was working fine and just stopped working. Seemed to short the switch, don't know why? Fan is getting corect voltage to it . but not getting 110 to 120 at the switch. Anyone know what could cause a short all the wiring is new, fan was new. ???

    How did the testing go? Did you pass your journeyman's yet?


    Sounds like the power goes to the fan and the hot goes to the switch and comes back... check your wire connections at the fan in the handybox. Check the wirenuts to see if you are making good connections there.

    If it's the usual cheap bathroom fart fan, the fan motor probably is shot, doesn't take much. BUT, since you're not sure about the wiring, best to call a tech who understands this stuff. Better safe than sorry. Electrical fires suck.

    and 120 volts is hazardous!
    harvest rainwater,make SHADE,R75/50/30= roof/wall/floor, use HVAC mastic,caulk all wall seams!
