i have 14k mr. slim and it keeps cutting off and on. it stays on for 5 mins and than back on for 5 mins. is this normal? also the condenser fan speed starts out slow and picks up to high speed befour shutting off. and there is some ice buildup on the small line where the connections come togeter were the foam was cut. is that normal also?

No it's not normal. Turn it off and call someone before damage to equipment occurs.

    Cool

Sounds like the condenser is cycling on low pressure, the ice could be an indicator of low freon

the temp coming out of the indoor unit is 80F when the condenser is running.

No, that is not normal, you are probably getting a flashing green light at the indoor unit. Turn it off and call the installer if he is also a tech. The ice is indicative of a low charge or clog. The best way to determine if it is a low charge is to recover the refrigerant and determine it's weight. Just putting on a set of gauges will tell if it is low pressure but not what is causing it. Your AC tech needs to weigh in the charge, Mitsubishi units use a critical charge. Mitsubishi requires that the system pass a 600 psi pressure test, if it doesn't pass then it has a leak.

i found a leak. its the small suction line that connects to the indoor evap. i tried to tighten it down with line wrenches but it started leaking even more so i backed down and the leak slowed down. theres not enough extra line to cut and reflare.

your going to have to recover the r-22 and add a short section of line and re-flare the tube. Thats your only fix at this point
