I live in Florida. The Mechanical Inspector told me that I had to insulate the condensate pipe running above the ceiling. While it is true for the 2004 Fla Mechanical Code, I could not find anything in the 2001 Fla Mechanical Code that requires it. My permit was under the 2001 Code. Did I miss something?

sounds like you missed getting inspection before new code came out.

I can't imagine they are protecting it from freezing, but maybe they are keeping it from sweating? I can't recall ever seeing PVC sweat, but anything can happen I guess.

oh i've seen them sweat. i do my work in south louisiana and they do sweat. mainly at the trap. i've seen the damage a "little" sweating can do.
