I have an old Trane central heat and air unit which I just bought a GE replacement fan motor for. My unit has 3 wires which should attach to the fan motor: Red, White, and Purple. Problem is, the replacement motor has 4 wires: Red, White, Black, and Blue. Someone please tell me what goes where.

Call for professional installer. For the meantime go take a vacation and have fun. Life is too precious. Enjoy it.

We here at HVAC TALK welcome you to the site. But unfortunately this site has rules against helping DIY'ers for liability issues. I have attached a link to the rules at the end of this post.

When was the last time you had that unit cleaned and inspected?

Now you have a problem with the unit. Fuel costs are skyrocketing.

So why not call in a professional to repair the unit? While they are there they can clean and inspect your unit to insure a safe living environment for you and your loved ones. Not to mention, having an efficient running system could save you more than the cost of the service.

What's your safety worth? I'm guessing more than the repair bill.

(we can't help DIY, due to site rules )
