Looks like I'll need to hire a professional to replace the board on my Carrier Crusader. What should I expect the board to cost...is there somewhere I could get it? What would be practical labor costs for this work.

    Thanks

When you get a furnace board replaced, you are not just getting a part exchanged. What a competent HVAC tech does is to check out your furnace to find out why the board went bad.

While there is always the chance that it was just the time for the board to end its life, most times there is some other reason for the failure. That's where a good tech comes in handy.

Instead of going through two or three boards and several days or weeks without heat because there was not a trained eye looking over the condition of the furnace while replacing the board, you can have the board replaced along with the security of knowing that the system was checked out for the reason for the failure.

Most HVAC components don't "just go bad". Most failed parts were damaged by some other factor. Finding that "other" factor is what professional techs are supposed to do, and that knowledge and experience is what you are paying for.

Why do you have to figure profit in your cost of doing business? Everyone knows that business owners are out there to gouge the consumer and the general public.I've learned that if I run my busines as a non-profit company, the public likes me better and I get more work. Let all of those hack companys concern themselves with the all mighty dollar. You'll sleep better if you just give everything away.
