Have a panasonic split air system for my condo...it works great. Howevever we also rent it out for others and want a way to have the system shut down after the condo has been vacated for more than 5-10 minutes to avoid constly energy bills....this could be with timer switch, e.g. 6 hour dial, or other more sophisticaed sensors and controls like they use in some hotel rooms...when the door opens the system shuts down, or the patio door open will not let the air unit run....

any help would be most appreciated

    it will never work

how is the unit going to know if someone entered the room or left the room? Charge a few extra bucks to cover electric bill and be done with it.

For what the controls would cost to do a job like this, you're not going to save much money.
