Cudos to the Minnesota legislature for holding firm. Funny how "essential services" are never affected, just the things that aren't essential. What does that tell you about the reach of government?

The legislature passed the largest ever budget, yes an increase in the MN budget, but the GUBNA won't agree to spending cuts so pay for it?
My opinion, they should've gone farther asking for budget cuts and spending cuts. CUT the non-essential services if they can't pay for themselves efficiently, which under any gov't control isn't likely!
As the government shut down last night, guess what? The sun still came up today!
(The wise men of modern thought) adore a god made of putty or of wax - plastic, effeminate, molluscous, with no masculine faculty about him, and no quality that entitles him to the respect of just and honest men, for a being who cannot be angry at wrongdoing is destitute of one of the essential virtues, and a moral Ruler who is not angry with the wicked, and who refuses to punish crime, is not divine. ---Spurgeon
I just hope the middle class enjoys the slide into serfdom. If they can't keep the general public amused with bread and circuses it might get ugly when the expectations of the majority are trashed so that the moneyed interests can get a bigger slice of the pie. Ideology trumps common sense again.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you in trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so. Mark Twain
I think you use the term majority very subjectively in my opinion. I think the majority (especially of tax paying citizens) wants some action taken and that we understand there will be "hell to pay" for a temporary period in order to get our Country back on its feet.

I hope people will wake up and see that these liberals in the fed are the real elites, always do as I say, not as I do.............
Give me back my Constitution, give me back my freedom!!!
IMO, your view is very socialist in nature, but then again, my opinion is also subjective, huh?
The ideology of individualism and free markets is trumping the ideology of collectivism and wealth distribution.

The same thing is happening in China. Do you think China is "sliding into serfdom?"
