A coworker's relative is building a vacation (weekend) home on a river and would like some suggestions on setback controls. They'd like to be able to connect via phone or internet to bring the HVAC systems out of setback. What suggestions do you have?

if this is for a home using one system such as forced air, you can get the required modules from honeywell. they have a dial up system, phone module and contrl module for around three or four hundred bucks. this system can only operate one thermostat. if you need further input, there are ways to use this module along with relays. this can be used for multiple zones of electric heat for examlpe but gets expensive.
