Thread: troubleshooting programs

I am going to be getting a laptop computer in a couple of months.
I am wondering if anyone knows of any kind of troubleshooting programs that would be good to have on a laptop.
I am looking for programs that involve residential oil burners, and also heating and A/C equipment.
I once saw a cool program that you could enter in your superheat, pressures, ETC and it would give you potential problems to look for, ETC. but it would only work on PDA's.
This wouldn't so much be for every day use, but for return service calls where you just can't figure out what the hell is going on. (Everyone knows about the jobs where you think you got something working, but you go back 5 or 6 times and it is always working fine when you get there.)
Any ideas?
