    Question

I am having a new Bryant 90i furnace installed. I have the option of using the Merv 8 Carrier media filter that comes standard with this furnace or installing a 1" filter rack to accept standard 1" pleated filters. Can anyone tell which which filtering system is the best and most cost effective in the long run for this furnace?

I usually include the "optional" filter rack.

The ability to change the filter without opening the cabinet doors to the furnace makes the system user friendly and being able to change filters is a big deal.

Check with your contractor about ease of maintenance.
