Just rented a house to a girl that lived and grew up on 8 mile road up there. You could say she would never get a job with the local welcome center or chamber of commerce there. She was very glad to be gone. Is it a war zone? I know about the area a little farther out where Hoffa went missing at Machus Red Fox restaurant at Bloomfield. Not a bad area there.

Except for mother in law memories.

In my eyes anything east of Milford these days is a war zone when it comes to traffic. But 8 mile, man that's rough turf!

8 mile runs from like way out west to the detroit river. So. Depends where on 8 mile. Most of that run of 8 mile from say about Farmington Road east to the river, anymore, yeagh it's like Lebanon, american style.

If you say to anyone here 8 mile, there next question would be where on 8 mile. As you get more into the closer suburbs directly bordering Detroit, 8 mile is the division between what is drugs, poverty, chaos to the south, and then to the north where the upper crust live. On 8 mile, in a bad zone, it's wild to me cause I too was not from here. You can go 1 mile north to nine mile on like a north south like corridor on a road in Ferndale for example. 2 mile deadbeand just like a tstat. you'll have 8 mile, then a mile south, real bad, a mile north homos and yuppies at expensive hip bars.

This a wild area. Over on the River, in Gross Pointe. Multi Zillion dollars estates to the north, crack house across the street. I kid you not. Things don't get gradual. It's like bam, your in a bad area.

    Yeagh Bob,

You all got to know. Bob has it so rough. He is in an area where the avereage home price is over 300 grand. SUV's in the driveway. But hey, according to the Mayor of Detroitl, the outer burbs have more drugs in them. HA HA.

Bout what she was saying. I remember a lot of what you are saying. She is a federal agent and a instructor here now at FLETC. She runs about 5 miles a day and said she would never run there. Said her bones won't be back there when she is done with them. These people get like $1,200 a month housing allowance.

We are more and more talking about moving. I got my biz though. Plus the kids school. If my biz went south, or I got lured with a very neat well paying job, yeagh I would seriously consider moving.

It's just not the moral decay. The economy here is in the worst shape ever there saying. I know Bob was saying the 80's were bad here. It's pretty bad here. There is no vibrancy. No energy. It's like you can see it sort of. Like it's slipping into a black hole.

This state is losing jobs left and right. Every day, the News is reporting on something else leaving. I am not exagerating.

Well, you can just imagine how the animals take advantage of all this.

The thing that she told me that was a eye opener was that she was afraid of the Muslim community there among a host of other things. That she thought they may try something there on a WMD scale or in a radius of there at another city. They have no problem about snuffing out their own people.

It did look like Syria when I was up there in some spots.

What she is saying may be why people are leaving.

Oh gosh. Don't even say that to me. I would die to go down there and make money doing refrigeration, and afford to live amongst my customers. Jekyll too.

Much simpler life. Whats really neat I think is that alot of guys who know you on here have no idea what it is like where you live. They just think Georgia, country. And have no clue it's like Jimmy Buffet all over.

There is a "B"illion dollar water front project on the board that will in essence rebuild the downtown area with shops and mini malls at the new bridge. The law enforcement center is growing like crazy and they just built a new airline terminal. The new bridge is expanding the port. A lot of things have changed and are changing since you were at Ft. Stewart. They are keeping Jekyll like it was.

You guys sound like a bunch of "HOMEYS".

    Hi Dow.

Hope I'm not interfering but I grew up around the area you guys are talking about.

But the the new divider is now ten mile road. I have customers (more correctly HAD) all over warren. A lot of elderly polish folks that I cultivated as customers in the eighties. They settled there after living in Hamtramck.

I used to be able to go all the way to Van Dyke and 8mile with out locking my truck.
That changed about six years ago. The same goes for ten milewest of dequindre.

I have realatives in Georgia and am considering a move too.

Excuse me if my comments were not welcome, just thought I'd add my own thoughts. Seems like that's all I got left now.

Yea, But I live in Fowlerville where men are men and women are men also!

Our biggest traffic jams this time of year when the combines are rolling down the roads, you have to pull all the way off for those guys or they can't get through.

Every thing on the coast is going up almost daily. In 5 years my house has apreciated 40% and I have 3 others. The islands are even more.

I had a friend who just sold a house on the beach his father bought in 1963 for under $20,000. He sold it fo 4 Million.

If I were looking for any land I would buy any land right now.

You are right about that. I wish I would've bought something else here. My home increased by almost 100K over three years. One bedroom villas that were once 34k are now 100k.

The house they are buying is about six or seven minutes from the Savannah Mall. It's some kind of new development in it's first phase. They are building three phases, with pools and some kind of clubhouse. Should be nice. Now instead of them being 12 hours away...it'll only be an hour.

    Square, here is http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-onlin...19306046.shtml
a article about the water front project I mentioned. I heard this morning that the investors are going to double it making it a 2 billion $ project. They just changed out and now have a new Casino gambling boat which sits across the river. That was the one I wanted to see happen first .
